The PR-30 achieves it's exceptional performance by using a special magnet structure and a large aluminum 1 1/2" low mass voice coil assembly. A carefully wound and placed hum bucking coil allows the PR-30 to be used close to video monitors without unwanted hum or buzz. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind the source entering them out of phase thus producing a very linear cardioid pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving the extreme articulation across it's smooth 40 - 18,000 Hz. frequency response. The new Heil Sound 'PROLINE' element is usable in extreme high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions as a condenser usually will be. It produces a beautifully smooth audio response without the inconvenience of phantom or outside d.c. powering. The Heil Sound engineers have created a very rugged microphone with superior low handling noise by mounting the very wide frequency response dynamic element into a special sorbothane shock mount system. This low handling noise and exceptional lack of bass-boosting proximity effect makes it ideal for professional uses. Heil Sound has brought a better idea to the table in the windscreen of their PR 30. They use two screens. The inner one has smaller openings while the outer screen that you actually see has a large opening. This breaks up the breathe blasts and diverts them from hitting the microphone diaphragm directly. This eliminates the need for external pop screens. The PR 30 is shipped with the SM3 zinc mic clip (5/8" -27 threads). An optional SM2 shock mount, (shown in picture) is also available.
